Review: Jane by April Lindner

So today I have for you a review of Jane by April Lindner. I can't really compare it to the original Jane Eyre because I haven't read it but I can tell you that I really loved this book! Here's the synopsis:

JaneForced to drop out of an esteemed East Coast college after the sudden death of her parents, Jane Moore takes a nanny job at Thornfield Park, the estate of Nico Rathburn, a world-famous rock star on the brink of a huge comeback. Practical and independent, Jane reluctantly becomes entranced by her magnetic and brooding employer and finds herself in the midst of a forbidden romance.
But there’s a mystery at Thornfield, and Jane’s much-envied relationship with Nico is soon tested by an agonizing secret from his past. Torn between her feelings for Nico and his fateful secret, Jane must decide: Does being true to herself mean giving up on true love?

I really loved this book! First off, I really loved the star crossed lover story line. I liked watching their relationship progress as the book went on.  I also loved that the book wasn't predictable.  Most books are always "happily ever after" but this on is a little more realistic.  There are a lot of twists and turns and surprises throughout the book, which I really enjoyed.  Each word and emotion is so well written that you can feel every emotion yourself which made the book all the more great and all the more enjoyable.  The characters are so well developed and described I felt like I was watching a movie and could picture the characters in my mind.  If you are looking for a modern twist on a classic novel this is definitely the book for you. You can buy the book: Amazon | BN. You can visit the author, April Lindner, here. Be sure to check out her upcoming novel, Catherine, which is a modern retelling of Wuthering Heights! :)

Hi! Following up on your comment on my blog http://bookishwhimsy.blogspot.com/ - I mentioned there that I've read Jane before I started blogging so I really should write up a review sometime. I am glad you enjoyed it so much and I think you would really love the original (although some of the surprises are spoiled for you now! :))
